SINTRA

A romantic town straight out of a film

The historic, romantic and masonic town of Sintra, situated only 30 km from Lisbon, was classified by UNESCO, in 1995, as World Heritage in the Cultural Landscape category. And there is no shortage of reasons for it winning the award.

Shrouded in dense vegetation and almost always in a veil of thick fog, Sintra – which in the 19th century acquired the status of an aristocratic town, totally made for pleasure and leisure – seems to come straight out of a film or mystery novel.

And there are plenty of appropriate scenarios: the Moorish Castle, Pena Palace, Capuchos Convent, Quinta da Regaleira, Parque das Merendas, Seteais Palace, Chalet of the Countess of Edla, Sintra National Palace, Vila Sassetti, the exotic Gardens of Monserrate and even golf courses.

If you prefer the sea and sand, we strongly recommend that you take the leisurely trip of 13 km on the mythical red tram that runs all the way to the famous Praia Grande, where the light is, in fact, very special at the end of the day.

Note: If you wish, Medidental can organise the whole of your stay in Sintra in terms of accommodation, transports, activities and tickets for monuments and museums.
