TECHNOLOGY
3D Computer Tomography
In terms of imagiology, Medidental uses high resolution 3D technology, fundamental for detecting specific details in the patient’s mouth that are often overlooked in traditional 2D examinations.
This method of diagnosis is rapid, painless, 100% safe and the image can be analysed right after the examination.
At the same time, and unlike other systems, this x-ray can exponentially reduce the dose of radiation that the patient receives.
Intraoral camera
The intraoral camera is a precious tool in the detection and diagnosis of countless oral problems.
For Medidental’s team it is very important that the patient literally sees the state of their mouth to get an idea of their real problems.
This instrument also helps us to record the before, during and after oral rehabilitation.
Intraoral sensor
In Medidental, our professionals do not use x-ray film, but rather digital x-ray sensors.
The main advantages of this system are the low level of radiation that the patient receives and the quality of a superior image, which facilitates a more accurate medical diagnosis.
Apicolocator
An apicolocator is used in endodontics to determine the position of the apical constriction (narrowest part of the root canal).
On the other hand, this type of device has also proven to be much more efficient than radiography for determining the position of the apical foramen (opening at the apex of the root canal).
Prophy Jet
A Prophy Jet is a device that uses a jet formed by air, powder and water to clean discolouration on the surface of the teeth.
This method is ideal for people who smoke and drink coffee, tea and other pigmented drinks.
Endodontics motor
In our clinic, in terms of devitalisation, we use mechanised endodontics, a method developed to facilitate the process and reduce treatment time.
The main advantages of this system are:
- Better preparation of canals
- Maintain the original shape of the canal
- More comfortable for the patient and doctor
- Less time required for the job
- Reduction of contamination between sessions
Sterilization equipment
In Medidental we use the most innovative and thorough sterilization equipment, namely Autoclaves B, regulated and categorised to the strictest standard imposed by European standard EN 13060 in 2004.
This top of the range technology uses a vacuum pump to remove air from the sterilization chamber, thus allowing the hot steam to reach all the internal and external zones of the instruments.
These Autoclaves B are indicated for sterilizing all types of solid, hollow and porous instruments (packed or not-packed), in as much as they guarantee the efficient penetration of the steam and, as such, more effective performance in terms of sterilization.
Zirconia
In Medidental we only use zirconia because:
- Crowns and bridges in zirconia are very similar to natural teeth, making it very hard to really spot any difference.
- As zirconia is a very strong substance, it can withstand daily wear and tear, and is thus long-lasting.
- Zirconia, like our teeth, also reflects the light in the same way (unlike other metallic nuclei), thus giving it a natural look. This may be important if your new crowns are in the front of the mouth and even more relevant in cases where a crown will be seen alongside natural teeth.
- Zirconia crowns, made from very strong ceramic material, are not subject to corrosion and also do not have the typical line of black gum around the crown.
- As zirconia does not conduct electricity, it eliminates the typical sensations of “hot/ cold” that we often feel with other crowns.
