Braces

Orthodontics is a field of dentistry that uses braces to prevent and/or treat problems associated with the growth of the teeth (crooked or spaced teeth) and the facial bone structure (prognathism and retrognathism).

Using braces not only improves the aesthetics of the smile but also facilitates oral hygiene, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease caused by dental misalignment.

Medidental professionals always perform a careful and detailed initial diagnosis, based on thorough examinations, and recommend the most suitable orthodontic device for each patient.

With regular follow-up, our orthodontists ensure safe, effective treatment with long-lasting results.

Invisible Braces – Dental Aligners

Invisible dental braces or aligners are an innovative alternative to conventional orthodontic appliances.

Custom-made for each patient using translucent acetate, they are nearly imperceptible, allowing for discreet and highly effective dental correction.

Unlike fixed braces, aligners can be removed at any time, offering greater comfort for the patient.
Initially, they were only used for minor dental corrections. Today, with technological advances, they can be used in almost all cases.
For hygiene, it’s important to clean the aligners with a suitable brush each time they’re removed.

Orthodontic treatment with aligners doesn’t require monthly visits to the dentist. Follow-up appointments are fewer, as a full set of aligners with instructions and use dates is delivered in advance.

Fixed Braces (Metal or Aesthetic)

Fixed dental braces consist of metallic brackets (usually steel) or aesthetic brackets (made from more discreet materials like sapphire, porcelain, or ceramic), connected by metal wires and elastics, and bonded to the teeth with adhesive.

Aesthetic fixed braces are the most discreet fixed option, with brackets similar in color to the enamel.

Because fixed braces can’t be removed daily, they require regular professional monitoring with monthly check-ups until the treatment is complete.

Expanders

Dental expanders are orthodontic appliances designed to widen the upper or lower dental arch, creating more space for proper teeth alignment.

They are mainly indicated for patients with dental crowding, where teeth are too close together due to lack of space in the maxilla or mandible.

Expanders are often used in growing children, as it’s easier to shape the bone structure. However, they can also be used in teens and adults, although the process is usually slower and more complex due to fully developed bones.
